Bath And Massage Oils:

These essential oils, when used in your bath or added to your massage oil, have a tremendous effect on the mood and help in creating an appropriate psychological stimulus. Besides, they are also useful in physiological conditions like aches and pains.

Some oils are known to trigger specific mood responses. While there is no hard and fast rule to this, they are seen as having a similar effect across various kinds of people, hence their classification by 'moods'. Read on to understand which oils arouse what kind of responses.

Method of use: Add a few drops of oil to the bath water (tub/bucket). Inhale the aromas. After bathing scrub your body to allow the oils to be absorbed. Or add a few drops to your massage oil. Can also be used in a diffuser or on a lights bulb.

Oils that have a Stimulating effect:

Peppermint, Juniper, Hyssop, Rosemary, Thyme, Black Pepper

Benefits: help levitate the mind and fill you with a feeling of well-being and elation.

Essential oils for Relaxing / as a Sedative:

Sandalwood, Cypress, Chamomile, Lavender, Marjoram, Orange Flower, Clary Sage

Benefits: promote a feeling a peace and tranquility and relax the mind. They help induce a restful sleep and overcome fatigue.

Oils for mind clarity, concentration and overcoming mental fatigue:

Basil, Clove and Juniper

Jasmine, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Orange Flower, Rose

Benefits: help you feel fresh and work to give you a perfect start to the day. Also relax tired feet.

'Bridal' Oils:

Tea Tree, Rose, Orange and Jasmine

Benefits: provide fragrant body aromas specially suited for brides. Help to soothe and relax nerves while boosting confidence.

Sample some recipes of essential oil baths that can stimulate you as per your desires. To make a bath, add a few drops of the oils to the bathtub. Inhale the aromas. After bathing scrub your body to allow a fuller absorption of the oils.

Stimulating Morning Bath

Rosemary - 5 drops
Juniper - 5 drops
Peppermint - 2 drops

Bath for Nervous Exhaustion

Basil - 2 drops
Geranium - 4 drops
Hyssop - 2 drops

For a Hangover

Fennel - 2 drops
Juniper - 4 drops
Rosemary - 2 drops

Aphrodisiac Bath

Ylang ylang - 2 drops
Sandalwood - 8 drops
Jasmine - 2 drops

For Insomnia and Stress

Chamomile - 2 drops
Juniper - 4 drops
Marjoram - 4 drops
Rose - 2 drops

Besides altering moods, essential oil baths can also have a therapeutic effect for some typical disorders.

For Coughs and Colds

Black pepper - 4 drops
Eucalyptus - 4 drops
Hyssop - 2 drops

For Aches and Pains

Eucalyptus - 3 drops
Rosemary - 3 drops
Clarysage - 4 drops
