Oleoresins 

Oleoresins are obtained by solvent extraction of dried ground spices, followed by complete removal of solvents from the extract and also with Super Critical Fluid Extraction (SCFE), the most advanced extraction technology.  Some of the spices like pepper, chilli and ginger when fresh have a special "green" flavor. We have the technology to make extracts from the fresh spices so as to trap the "green" flavor, characteristic of the garden fresh spices.

Oleoresin represents the 'true essence of the spice' and consists of the volatile essential oil and the nonvolatile resinous fraction containing the taste components and pigments. Oleoresin can replace spice powder in food and flavor formulations without impairing any flavor characteristics. These products comply/harmonize with FCC/FDA/EOA/JECFA specification. In addition to standardized products, we develop custom-made oleoresins for specific requirements. Our product development team also formulates oleoresin based seasoning blends for a variety of food applications.

Advantages of oleoresins over conventional spices

  1. Free from physical impurities and extraneous matter - clean product.
  2. Free from pathogens and microbiological contaminants - sterile product.
  3. Standardized product: Active ingredients/color, flavor, and physical properties are standardized and hence facilitate consistency in end-use, which is not always possible in raw spices and versatility easy of use.

The concentrated extract can be diluted to varying strengths to meet required end-use flavor, color, taste, etc

The extract can be delivered in multiple forms:

  • as dry dispersion on appropriate carrier.
  • as liquid dispersion in appropriate media such as oil or water.

Flexibility to develop multiple spice blends if required.

Uniform dispersion of spice extract provides instant flavor release. full release of flavor resulting in lower costs due to higher relative replacement than the ground spice.

Concentrated form reduces storage space and bulk handling and transport requirements.

Concentrated and virtually moisture-free form of oleos ensures longer shelf life due to minimal oxidative degradation or loss of flavor and eliminates deterioration due to pests, mold, etc.
